[N.A!] Project has set up a partnership with Magasins généraux, a creativity hub founded by BETC in Pantin, near Paris, as part of its third cultural season, entitled “Jardins partagés.”
Magasin généraux’s third cultural season – “Jardins partagés”
Presented from June 27 to September 13, 2020, Magasin généraux’s third cultural season, entitled “Jardins partagés,” will take place at this new creativity hub founded by BETC on the banks of Ourcq Canal in Pantin. Focusing on the ecological and social transition, it is aimed at rethinking our ways of living together and our relationship with the environment, starting on a local scale. It combines an exhibition of artists’ gardens with an open-air festival, a colloquium and the publication of a book. The entire program will be open to the public free of charge.
At the heart of this third season, the “Jardins partagés” exhibition invites about 15 international artists – well-known or emerging mixed-media artists, landscape designers, architects, designers and chefs – to create, activate or reinterpret an urban garden. These creative gardens will be presented at Magasins généraux and in public spaces around the building and along Ourcq Canal. Designed and organized with the participation of local communities and visitors, they will be displayed permanently or reused after the exhibition wherever possible.
The [N.A!] Project 2020 grant program
This program is organized in a series of research and creativity phases, supervised and supported by [N.A!] Project and Magasins généraux.
Once their applications are accepted, artists (or collectives) may participate in a two-week production residency at Magasins généraux in May or June. The precise timing will be determined by each artist and the Magasins généraux team.
Each artist will receive advanced support (creative decisions, production, contacts with partners and local operators, etc.) from the Magasins généraux creative directors and team, and possibly the use of a workspace.
During the residency, each artist will produce a project that will be presented at Magasins généraux in the “Jardins partagés” exhibition from June 27 to September 13, 2020, and in the book published for the event.
A production grant and fees will be provided to the artist by [N.A!] Project, depending on the production budget defined by the artist and the two partners, [N.A!] Project and Magasins généraux.
This call for projects is open to artists and designers of any age and any field of contemporary art who are citizens of a European Union country, or artists from other countries that have had a permanent workspace in a European Union country for at least six months. Artists who are currently enrolled on a higher education art course are not eligible. Applications must be made individually. However, if several members of a collective wish to apply, they may make one shared application listing the different participants.
