Astarti Athanasiadou was born in Greece but has been living and working in Amsterdam since 2007. As a multidisciplinary artist with a background in dance, she explores the transformation of words, images and objects. She believes dialogue is an agent of cultural, social and political change and creates choreographies or installations with the body as her field of composition. Astarti is the co-founder of the Achaperformance dance company and has collaborated with companies like the Troupe de l’Avant-Scene, Magpie, Achilleas Chariskos, Zakia El Abodi, Emilie Gallier, Goeun Bae and Pavlos Kountouriotis. She also teaches at Body Weather Amsterdam, a platform founded by Frank van der Wen and Katerina Bakatsaki. In 2017, Astarti participated in the 5th [N.A!] Project Academy “Bloom Again” in Elefsina.
