Exhibition commissioner Stéphane Verlet-Bottéro took us on a guided tour of the projects occupying the space. Through sculpture, photography and video, the works look at the intersections between art and agriculture and question our relationships to the living world, the earth, work and energy.
As a continuation of her “Beuys’ Acorns”, artist Heather Ackroyd has planted an oak sapling descended from the 7000 oaks planted by Joseph Beuys. This act is particularly symbolic inside this unique zone, home to the last market garden in the heart of the city. Joseph Beuys called for cities and towns to be built like forests, to be eco-spaces, and this is one more step in that direction.
